Monday Morning

I’ve had a slow, relaxed and cozy morning in bed. I got up a little after 07.00, made coffee and breakfast. I crawled back in to bed and enjoyed it all while reading the latest issue of the travel magazine Vagabond.

Right now I’m wearing a supercozy, knitted cardigan, while listening to First Aid Kit (new found love!) and editing pictures from my day out with Andreas yesterday. I’m considering making another cup of coffee. I will make a blog post about yesterday before I continue to work, I have pictures to edit and emails to send.

Morning Light | In The Kitchen

Photography is all about catching light, painting shapes, formes and colors on our cameras sensors with it. There is always some sort of light, natural or artificial – and the natural one change a lot during one day. Morning light is one of my favourite ones – it’s very beautiful and after a dark night, it makes me happy and full of new energy.

These images are from yesterday’s early morning. Both are shot and edited on my iPhone.

This week has been busy and I’ve done a lot of different things, I don’t have a lot of time or energy to use my DSLR, but I still want to take pictures and keep track of my everyday life – so I use my phone a lot, I hope you can cope with my iPhoneography! Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:

Treated myself to some lovely sushi last sunday

Anna had a photoshoot on monday, for a book in the making by Karin Holmberg

I fell in love with the whale she’s made (to keep needles in/on) and some of the lovely props we had!

I’ve spent some time together with Anna at her office, editing.

Headed to another day of internship (with my new bag, a find I made at a second hand).
The day begun with me making coffee at the office/studio upon arrival.

Anna had another shoot on wednesday, for a magazine. I’ll tell you more + show you once it’s published.

As an intern/assistant, part of my job is to head out and pick up food during photoshoots. I had an aaamaaaziing sallad!

More coffee!

Mum was in town due to some work-related stuff, so I met up with them and had dinner at a really great, lebanese restaurant.

The lovely and funny Elin was on a visit here in Stockholm.
We grabbed a coffee and walked around in the sun photographing and having a great time!

Also, those trees are amazing and I want one of ‘em… so beautiful. Made by Matilda Bengtsson.

Me and Elin walked around Söder and I took a lot of pictures that day so I’ll make a separate blogpost about it later on!

a while back, coffee chain da Matteo opened a new shop in Borås. I visited it twice last week, and the second time I noticed that I recognized their pictures on their wall – and after a while I realized they were mine haha! I’m so slow sometimes. I did a job for them last year and they got a lot of pictures from me, and they are up on their website. It was really fun to see some of them in print, hanging as art now too!

Chemex Coffee Maker

da Matteo had a booth at the Passion For Food fair, and we tried two different kinds of coffee. Both done with a Chemex Coffee Maker. I really want one… I already have both an ordinary coffee maker and a french press (or coffee plunger) but I really enjoy the process of making coffee. It takes more time, and I thin I would feel more like I’m actually doing something of my own with a Chemex, plus they’re gorgeous to photograph…

da Matteo – Coffee shop, roastery and bakery

da Matteo means “at Mats’ place”, and it sure feels like coming home to someone when entering their facilities. Mats and the crew has done a great job creating a café with lovely environments (and great coffee!).

These environments, which I had often grabbed a coffee in, tempted the photographer in me and I contacted Mats – and suddenly I sat, having a coffee with the founder of the coffee chain, and got to hear about him and the story of his life. Soon, my interest also turned into a job as I roamed their cafés with my camera – and now my pictures can be seen at their website www.damatteo.se

They currently have four coffee shops in Gothenburg, one newly opened in Stockholm and soon Borås will get one too! da Matteo is more than just a coffee shop though, one of their stores (their biggest) in Gothenburg is also a bakery and the place where they roast and ship their coffee. They also have courses in making leaven and various barista courses and some coffee tasting.

Besides having me running around at their coffee shops, I also got to be around during the process of loading, roasting and packaging their coffee – which was really interesting, fun and lovely smelling! As you know, I do love coffee so I was in heaven haha!

I know it’s just a picture… but can you smell that?! Mmmhmmm

It was so much fun, having something I was just interested in – turn into a job that got me a great experience, nice pictures, one of my first bigger jobs within the company/as a freelancing photographer and now my pictures are on their site wich also feels really amazing!

Breakfast in bed

I enjoyed the luxury of having my breakfast in bed earlier this week. While I wrote in my new notebook that will serve sort of as a diary. Tomorrow school starts and I’ve been all like “well, here’s the end of nice days and luxury like that” but seriously, why can one not enjoy stuff like even though there’s school/work and all sorts of “has to’s” and grown up stuff in our lives? To hell with that – I’m going to enjoy life more and use time more now, even though school’s started again!

I’ve only had time to do some photographing at daMatteo twice so far, there’s so much to do in school all the time. But I thought I’d show you a little preview of a few shots for now. I have not yet decided if it should all be in black & white or color, but for now you’ll get to see them monochrome.
